Balderdash is simply the best party game there is. It is extremely flexible in that it allows for fun gameplay with many different numbers of players and ages of players, and it is also a game where experience won't necessarily give you an advantage. The point is to come up with bogus definitions to a difficult vocabulary word no one will know, and to get other players to vote for your fake definition. The game is somewhat educational -- you're bound to pick up a few words from playing it that you can show off, and has great replay value -- even though there's a finite number of cards, trying to remember the real definitions is impossible! Hilarity always ensues when we play this game; you invariably wind up with some really out-there stuff as people try to make up definitions under limited time, and there are always a few submissions that have us rolling on the floor. Of course, sometimes the real definition is the weirdest of them all! Balderdash is the perfect game for any party -- people learn quickly, get really into it, and you can play for as many or as few rounds as you'd like... though our games usually go on for quite some time! This game is addictive, but in a good way. No party game collection is complete without a copy of Balderdash!
Favorite board game EVER February 1, 2010

Every time I play this, I laugh until I cry. I have played with groups as small as 3 and as large as 11 (with players aged 6-78) and it is always hilarious. When I first got the game, I thought that the players who caught on to the correct answer phrasing would be better, but the answers are so varied that (almost) everyone has a good chance of winning that round.

I purchased Balderdash for the Christmas crowd we'd be staying with. The ages were early twenties to mid-fifties and we all had fun. We were laughing very, very hard at times. Because the game does not require one to be knowledgeable in any particular subject or in trivia, no one has to feel like they won't do well. One can make up an answer for each round. So I would highly recommend this game of you want your group to have fun.

The game is not a new one, but almost as classic as Monopoly. It's a great party game that tends to get even more interesting as the night goes on, especially if there are a few drinks involved. Although the younger set may not enjoy it being more familiar with video games, it does have a good subliminal educational attribute without players being aware that the actual answers to the bluffs they write will stick in their minds for a long time.
