Great Toy at a great price March 8, 2010 Lydia Lawson I read a lot of reviews where people had problems with the download and I expected to be putting my husband to work on it. My seven year old son already had it all done by the time I even had a chance to look at it and everything was working fine. We have an older computer with Windows XP. My son has been showing me how everything works now. I would say it seems very user friendly to me and he is having a lot of fun with it.
Needs 128MB Video RAM February 24, 2010 Lori B. Coleman I've just been on the phone with Mattel. I'm told that the reason my Ucreate Music is now completely devoid of sounds and flashing an error light, is that I tried to download loops without having at least 128MB video RAM. This requirement, at this time, is on the box but not the physical instructions nor the PDF. All the content was erased as the site attempted to install new content which failed. I'm told that unless I get a new video card, my Ucreate Music will be nonfunctional. Mattel did make this right with me though. It won't fix my daughter's disappointment. The product was awesome during the hour we got to play with it.
An add to your child creativity February 15, 2010 M. Willey (Louisiana) It has a simple look, but it is able to challenge your child creativity. I got this toy for Christmas and my 10 and 8 years old children (a girl and a boy) gathered with our neighbors' kids and they all loved it. The feeling they have of being able to mixing sounds, was an invitation for them to explore it for hours, and come up with pretty good rhythms results. I must say that, my kids are very much in to the music field, since they take piano and guitar lessons. However, I consider this toy an excellent one that can, believe it or not, even beat a DS game.
AWESOME MUSIC MIXER February 14, 2010 S. Ollivierre (Portland, Oregon) We purchased this for my son's 6th birthday and it was a big hit! He figured out to use it on his own and we are looking forward to hooking it up to the computer to see what else it can do. Has a headphone jack for use in the car or airplane. Small enough and portable. Only negatives are that the record button is only 5 seconds and the speaker isn't the best quality... but you can hook up to external speakers. Overall it is VERY COOL! Does not disappoint!
Better Instructions Needed February 14, 2010 D Co (St Petersburg, Florida United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
While me and my daughter are able to get this device to make sound, we just can't seem to fumble with it enough so that we get the feeling that WE are controlling it. I watched a few of the youtube videos, and it seems like everybody is suffering with the same issue.
br /The manual is next to useless, a box of Pop-Tarts comes with a better set of instructions.
br /Now that being said, my 7 year old daughter likes to play it, and that is why I bought it.
br /The device is cheap, so I'm not chafed, but the ucreate website does need to create and make a downloadable book so that folks can get more out of this thing.
